Strategic Plan

The strategic plan could be broadly divided into three categories: (1) Academic (2) Co-curricular and (3) infrastructural.

Academic

We stuck firmly to the idea of equity and excellence in the academic and research domains. Following the governmental policies of reservation and engaging in remedial classes for students from the disadvantaged sections of society, we ensured equity. By upgrading the Department of English as a PhD research department and engaging in high-quality research activities in all the five research departments, the college has ensured greater participation of deserving students in the domain of research. It was also in this period that the college started an MA program in Malayalam and a BSc program in Computer Science. By incorporating the ICT enabled learning process into the teaching methodology, the students and teachers kept pace with the cutting-edge teaching methods and the technological developments related to learning. The college conducted many seminars and workshops on themes having contemporary relevance to ensure that the teachers and students are aware of the latest developments in their fields of study.

Co-curricular

We did not limit the creative potentials of students to academics only but rather provided as many vistas as possible in the form of co-curricular and participatory learning to unleash their creative potentials. The college did this by providing platforms and encouraging students to participate in musical performances, art shows, science fair, debate competitions, etc. Also, the department of physical education in this period took extra effort to attract students with great potential to the college and give them proper guidance, training and ambience for developing their sports skills.MSreesankar, who has set the national record in long-jump and qualified for the Tokyo Olympics, is a telling example of the efforts taken by the department of physical education during this period. In addition, we are extremely proud to state, we produced national, state and university level winners in athletics/sports during the period.

Infrastructural

During the period, the college initiated many projects to develop the digital and physical infrastructure of the college. With adequate broadband connection and free wi-fi, the college ensured that all the students, teachers and non-teaching staff have access to digital data. During the period, the library was digitalized and the administrative-work was also made less cumbersome through digitalization. In terms of physical infrastructure, the college made a quantum leap in this period. With the help of a master plan prepared by the Kitco and the fund given by the Kiffbi, the college shifted to an all-out development drive, envisaging and beginning the construction of a new academic block, a massive “knowledge center” and a state-of-the-art play-ground.
