It provides the students with a working knowledge of linguistics and grammar. The study of functional Hindi, translations and journalism help them secure jobs in media and communication. The programme imparts job opportunities in state and central government services as translators, Hindi offices and interpreters.
Economics
The programme imparts an aptitude to understand the economic situation of the country. Analytical skills are inculcated to help the students become economic analysts. The projects done during the programme helps in performing empirical data analysis using software packages. Knowledge of economics helps the students to gain insights into various government policies; budget, taxation and expenditure policies, foreign policies, trade policies etc. It creates the groundwork for enhancing ability in policy making and forecasting.
History
Programme outcomes (Pos) and Programme specific outcomes (PSOs) are to be judged from the number of placements the students get. The department of history is aiming at producing the right type of candidates for various jobs in history and other sectors. Students have entered various fields – cinema, media, teaching etc.
Botany
The programme helps to understand the role of plants in sustaining life on earth and the interrelationship between human beings and nature, create awareness on natural resources and their importance in sustainable development, analyze the importance of biodiversity conservation, estimate biodiversity loss and develop conservation strategies. It enables the students to identify and classify plants according to the principles of plant systematics, apply techniques like plant propagation methods, organic farming, mushroom cultivation, preparation of biofertilizers, biopesticides etc. in daily life.
Zoology
The programme inculcates interest in nature and living forms and their conservation. It makes the students eco-friendly by creating a sense of environmental awareness in them. It gives better exposure to the diversity of life forms. The programme gives awareness about natural resources and their importance in sustainable development. It encourages the students to study different ecological sites for animals in their natural habitats by field study. It develops skills in doing experiments, familiarizing equipments and biological specimens. It encourages undertaking scientific projects which help to develop research aptitude in students.
Chemistry
The programme gives a comprehensive understanding of the principles of chemistry. It helps the students to understand the properties of atoms, the forces between them, and how they react to other elements. It helps the students distinguish between organic and inorganic matter, the physical forces that govern atoms, and how scientists can predict an element’s behaviour based on its atomic makeup. Students grapple with modern theories like quantum mechanics, which seek to explain the behaviour of matter. They are offered the opportunity to perform open-ended experiments, trying out different solutions to chemistry problems posed to them. The students master a variety of analytical techniques. The students can opt for careers in pharmacology, chemical engineering, electrochemistry or nanotechnology. students can specialise in fields like biochemistry, medicine, environmental chemistry or sustainability. It also include options for the students to learn about the applications of chemistry in industry from a business perspective.
