The Department of Mathematics started functioning in 1939. The department started to offer a BSc Mathematics course in the same year. In the year 1982 it was upgraded to a PG department. Right from its inception the department has strived to the development of college and society. The department has the legacy of renowned mathematicians working as faculty members and several alumni of the department have served the state and the country in various capacities. Some of them work in the prestigious national and state educational institutions. Through all these years the department has attracted students from all over Kerala and it continues to produce excellent results both at undergraduate and postgraduate level. The young talents the department nurtured get admitted for both PG and research in reputed institutions.
