Short film on the theme ‘Resource Conservation and Environment Protection’. Cast and crew are students and staff of the department.
The film was telecast in the electronic media ‘Media one’.
The film was screened to the students of schools and colleges across the district and also to the general public.
In 2018-19, department has ventured into organic farming and a Krishi Karma Sena (Taskforce) has been constituted to offer labour services on the farms of deserving farmers who face economic issues. The taskforce has planted saplings on 1 acre paddy field of a farmer in Olassery, Palakkad. The students also maintained a vegetable garden in the hostel and they raised funds from the weekly sale of vegetables.
GREEN -2017 for instilling farming bevaiour among the students of Economic Department for the year 2017.
KRISHI KOOTTU-2017 a model farm cum vegetable gardening for replicating it in the houses of students of the college.
POND RENOVATION-VICTORIA 2018 an eco-friendship initiative to inject awareness among the students and public.
The Department observed World Food Day on 16-10-2018. A sum of Rs 6000 was raised from the students and staff of the college and the fund was used to offer food for the patients in the District Hospital Palakkad. The staff and the students visited the hospital and served food for the patients. An elocution competition was held on the topic Politics of Hunger for the students of the college. A poster making competition was held for students on the same topic.
Department has been giving special coaching for the students of Sabari Ashram run by Harijan Seva Sangh under Gandhi Peace Foundation. PG students along with the teachers of the Department visited the place every weekend and have given coaching to students for 2 hours.
In 2018-19 a SCRIBE BANK is started under the co-ordinator ship of Mr. Mohandas, Assistant Professor, Department of Economics to provide the scribe for the disabled students to write university examination.

Department has organized 4 Inter collegiate quiz competitions.
Students from different colleges participated in the quiz competitions.
Prize money and Certificates were awarded to the winners of the quiz competition.
The department also brought out student magazine during 2011-12 and 2013-14
The magazine was the outcome of the literary and academic contributions made by the students of the department.
