The undergraduate programme was started in  Mathematics in 1939 and Masters in 1982. Since its inception, the department has catered to the needs of students all over the state to pursue BSc and MSc in Mathematics. Alumni include Some eminent Mathematicians  in various  prestigious institutes in India. As the college is affiliated to the University of Calicut, the syllabus and curriculum design is done at the University level. But the department gives suggestions to improve the syllabus from time to time.
